Description

The iron blade is T-shaped, formed of double crescents concave to the edge, forged with a narrow but solid socket for the haft which flares to the back and has a little stepped and hatched decoration at the base of the bar joining the socket to the blade. The haft is of wood, reinforced with an iron band with a dagged lower edge bordered by triple incised lines at the bottom, has a D-shaped iron finial with an iron dome and copper alloy washer below. Between the haft and the socket is a long iron rod with a round finial and file cut edges, intended to hold the socket firmly in position, and to be bound on with thongs now missing
