Description

Silver; shaped oval with straight sides, engraved with bright cut borders and two oval cartouches containing armorials

Silver, with engraved and pricked decoration, and engraved armorials. The shaped oval caddy has straight sides with a narrow reeded border to the rim and foot, and a flat base. The cover is slightly domed and surmounted by an urn-shaped finial and has a concealed hinge. At the top and bottom of the sides and on the cover are borders of bright-cut engraving and pricking. The front and back of the caddy are engraved with an oval cartouche; the front containing the crest of Bulteel of Pamflete and Lyneham, Devonshire, the back containing a coat-of-arms of John Bulteel of Pamfleet and Lyneham, impaling Crocker with Perrin in pretence. A key hole is cut in the front above the armorials, with a lock inside.
