Description

Buff earthenware, reddish in the middle of the back, tin-glazed white on the upper surface and painted in blue, green, yellow and manganese. Approximately square with an oval depressionin the back. Within a frame composed of a yellow line between two blue lines, a bust portrait in profile to the left of Charles, Duke of Burgundy, wearing a laurel wreath on his head and plate armour. In the upper corners there are draped curtains and on the right of the Duke's head, the inscription CAROLVS/BVRGVN-/ DIÆDVX.' in manganese. The right and left edges of the tile are green.
