Mary, Queen of Scots

Bought from the Perceval Fund with the aid of a donation from Louis C. G. Clarke, M.A.
Method of acquisition: Bought (1947)
Very similar to another half-length portrait of Mary, in an embellished oval frame, but only the portrait is a mezzotint, the frame, background and tablet are engraved. On the tablet are four lines "MARIA STUART… onmi Fortuna Major." At bottom "Ex Museo Com. de Roseberie" and "I. Simon fec."
