Description

Melon-shaped ewer and cover. Stoneware, thrown, with parts attached, indented and celadon-glazed. The eight-lobed body resembles that of the Korean yellow melon (ch'amoe); it has a narrow mouth, a short spout and a curved handle. The cover is in the shape of an eight-petalled floret. The base is slightly recessed. The glaze is thickly applied, of dark brownish-green colour, with a subtle gloss. There are eight large fire-clay spur-marks around the base.
