Description

Wine bottle with peony design. Stoneware, thrown, incised and celadon-glazed. On the shoulder are two parallel incised lines and a band of youi-heads below; four peony sprays are incised on the body, and a band of double lotus petals above the foot. The glaze is lustrous, of a pale blue-green colour, evenly applied over the whole body, and with a tiny overall crackle. In places the glaze has discoloured and lost its glossiness, and some earth is adhering. There are five spur-marks on the base.
