Cosmetic box and cover with lotus. Stoneware, moulded, incised and celadon-glazed. This box and cover both have broad bevelled edges; the base is recessed. A large single lotus spray is incised in the centre of the cover, and a scroll border runs around the slanted edge; the sides of both parts have bands of key-fret. The pale bluish-green glaze is opaque and crackled; it has been wiped from the rims of both parts which show traces of fire-clay supports; the base shows three quartzite spur-marks.
