Description

The blade is straight, of T-section, of fine watered (Wootz) steel. The hilt is of walrus ivory, plain, slightly waisted for the fingers, with a thin silver ferrule at the junction with the blade, and fitted with a swivel loop of blue, green and turquoise enamel at the tang button, to which is attached a suspension loop of silver thread cord, with four tassels. The scabbard is of wood covered with green velvet, with a long chape and top locket of copper alloy enamelled in green, pink, yellow, red, blue and turquoise with flowers and birds. Some damage to the enamel on the chape, On top of the locket is a swivel loop decorated in blue, green and turquoise enamel, with a suspension loop of silver thread cord and tape, the tape with a button and loop for fastening it closed, and a large decorative tassel of the same cord, divided into four tassels each of which was originally divided into four more, though seven of these are missing and nine survive, all somewhat damaged. The top of the blade has a small patch of corrosion.
