Formed of brownish leather tooled with a medial rib, and decorated with five large silver and niello bosses separated with groups of three smaller silver bosses. There is a buckle in the form of a narrow D-shaped frame of silver, and a flat strap-loop to take up the slack. All the silver fittings are decorated in niello in a simple floral scroll, and have a pierced end inside by which they are fastened in place by strips of leather. This might be a waist belt, but the angle of the buckle suggests it may be intended to lay flat as part of a set of horse furniture.
