Description

Silver, parcel-gilt; fig-shaped bowl on pentagonal handle with flat shield-shaped terminal; engraved with strapwork and a coat-of-arms, and dated '1584'

Silver, parcel-gilt; the fig-shaped bowl is attached to the handle by a flat lozenge shape, which enables the spoon to stand. The hollow pentagonal handle terminates with an applied shield. The top of the back of the bowl is gilt and engraved with strapwork. The flat base of the handle is engraved with foliage and the date '1584'. The two sides of the gilt handle are engraved with a pattern of lines. The terminal is engraved with a coat-of-arms.
