Description

Silver-gilt, enamelled copper inlaid with gold and silver; oval bowl with a flat hinged handle and trefid terminal; decorated with scrolling foliage and the applied bust of a man

Silver-gilt, enamelled copper inlaid with silver and gold; the gilt bowl is attached to the hinged handle by a rat's tail. Above the hinge, which is held in place by a slide, the handle is black enamelled copper inlaid with silver scrolling foliage and gold flowers, and appplied to the front and back with the bust of a man. The gilt trefid terminal is chased with a tulip on the front and an acanthus leaf on the back. The back of the bowl, lower handle, slide and dog nose are all engraved with foliage.
