Silver-gilt and wood; oval wood bowl on ornate handle with applied figures of St. Michael and the Devil, and a praying angel
Silver-gilt and wood; the shallow oval wood bowl is mounted in silver-gilt and has an ornate handle of square cross section. The back of the bowl is carved with the bust of Michaelangelo, and inlaid with two silver-gilt shells. The silver-gilt rim is engraved with scrolling foliage. The cast handle is decorated with a mask, pendulous fruit, and twisted strapwork. There are two girdles of acanthus leaves. On the upper one are the applied figures of St. Michael and the Devil. The finial is an openwork sphere topped by a figure of a kneeling, praying angel
