Signed (Orikaeshi-Mei) Morimitsu. Sugata: [configuration]: shobu-zukuri (‘iris’ shape)
Kitae: [forging pattern]: itame with mokume flowing in places
Hamon [tempering pattern]: gunome with togari-ba of ko-nie
Boshi [tip]: ko-maru
Horimono [carving]: on the omote the written invocation ‘Hachiman Dai Bosatsu’ (Hachiman, the Great Bodhisattva), now mostly concealed from immediate view beneath the hilt due to the blade having been shortened, and on the ura a sanskrit character for Hachiman
Nakago [tang]: suriage with orikaeshi (folded-over signature) Morimitsu, two holes, deep katte-sagari file marks
Habaki [collar]: double gold-clad copper
Nagasa [length of blade]: 36.4 ( about 1mm broken off the point). Length of tang 9.3cm. Curvature 0.7cm
Koshirae [mounting]: blade preserved in shirasaya (retaining peg missing) of overall length 53.2cm: The mounting is number [29] on this list and both mounting and blade are accompanied by silk bags inside a lacquer box.

Morimitsu is highly regarded as one of the best of the early 15th century smiths of Osafune in Bizen province.
