A katana in tachi mounting. Sugata: [configuration]: shinogi-zukuri, narrowing, shallow curve, medium point
Kitae: [forging pattern]: o-itame with ji-nie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: gunome choji midare with large ashi, sunagashi,and some nijuba
Boshi [tip]: ko-maru
Horimono [carving]: none
Nakago [tang]: ubu, slender and narowing,
Habaki [collar]: katte-sagari file marks, three holes, ha-agari kurijiri tip
Nagasa [length of blade]: blade 69.5cm, tang 21.4cm, curve 1.9cm
Koshirae [mounting]: tachi mounting, the scabbard black with orange/red scattered irregularities design, with four Tokugawa family triple-hollyhock mon either side in gold makie, the metal pieces matching and of mostly worn gilt copper engraved with scrolling, menuki of gilt groups of blossoms, the gilt tachi mokko tsuba engraved with leaves and chrysanthemeums, height 7.8cm, width 7.2cm. Overall length 99.7cm.
