Description

Fragment with inlaid designs. Stoneware, inlaid in white and black slip, and celadon glazed. Fragment of a dish with low footring, inlaid in white slip with a simplified pheonix design; two hand-pinched spurs (of originally three) remaining on base.

Note

The fragment may date from the end of the fourteenth century, when the kilns were in a transitional phase to the production of punch'ong wares. Compare also the undecorated kiln waster, C.531-1984, which is of the same type.
