Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular; the lid nielloed with views of St. Petersburg and the River Neva round a gilt portrait medallion of Catherine the Great.
Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular with flat pull-off lid. The lid is nielloed with views of St. Petersburg and the River Neva. Round the outer edge is the inscription in Cyrillic "Triumph of Peace 8 September 1790". An inner inscription reads "River Neva" Set in the centre is a large gilt portrait medallion of Catherine the Great, on the reverse of which is a laurel wreath and spray of laurels and the date 1790. The base of the box is divided into seven segments radiating from a central circular cartouche containing the initials "PAJ" or "PAT"; round the outer edge is a Cyrillic inscription. Each segment contains a view of a sea battle. The sides of the box are divided into four panels each containing a scene of a sea battle. The sides of the lid are inscribed with the names and dates of the battles. The interior of the box is gilt.
