Chalcedony intaglio set in an enamelled gold mount with a pearl drop. Vulcan, bearded and bareheaded, seated in his forge hammering a helmet on his anvil, with Mars seated on a rock opposite him, holding up his armour on a spear, head turned to the left. The rim of the gold mount is enamelled with black chevrons, and has pearl drop at the bottom
