A pair of white jade tripod cups in the shape of an ancient bronze ritual vessel, jue. The body of the tripod consists of two small capped posts and two intertwined dragons on the rim, a concave upper part that flares outward to the rim, and three legs decorated with geometric clouds patterns. The central part of the body decorated with two panels of dragons and phoenixes against a geometric background. Inscribed underneath “Da Qing Qianlong Fang Gu (Great Qing Emperor Qianlong imitation of the antique)”
History note: Sir Percival David 1924, Purchased by Sir Percival David in 1924 from a bank in Peiping. They were part of the collection from the Forbidden City held in security for a loan made to the last Chinese Emperor. The yellow paper labels read “Eastern Hall No.344” , “No.1 category 600”, “no.1 category jia”, Presented by Sir Percival David, July 1931
