Gilt metal, probably silver; circular, the lid and base set with portrait medallions of George III and George II, containing 61 circular etchings
Gilt metal, probably silver. Circular with straight sides and flat pull-off lid. The lid is set with a portrait medallion of George III facing right, inscribed round the edge 'GEORG . III . D .G . FRANGIT. HOSTES . EXTENDIT . IMPERIVM .' and signed 'IVN'. The base is set with a portrait medallion of George II facing left, inscribed round the edge 'GEORG . II . D . G . FACTA . INTICTVM . TE . PRAEDICANT . SEMPER .' The box contains 61 circular etchings (A-BI) - two glued to the inside of the lid and base, the remaining loose - describing and depicting 'A short history in miniature of the origin and progress of the late war from its commencement to the exchange of the Ratification of Peace between Great Britain, France and Spain on the 10th of Feby. 1763'. With its original black leather fitted case (BH) lined in blue silk
