One of the series of nine plates for the series, which was issued in three parts in 1643, 1648 and 1650. This print was one of four published in 1648. Touched proof, before all lettering. Artists' names and trial inscription written in red, the same colour used lightly throughout the image, especially on the children's hands. In the margin in ink: "Now In the China Closet in Windsor"
