Leaf from an Antiphoner
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, trimmed along the border frame, 460 x 305 (385 x 230) mm, 9 lines of text ruled in faint brown ink and 9 four-line music staves ruled in red.
CONTENTS: Matins antiphons and response Aspiciens a longe for the first Sunday in Advent .
DECORATION: Historiated initial [A, 3 ll.] formed of bronze acanthus leaves and enclosing the Last Judgement, with full acanthus and strewn-flower border showing a Cistercian abbot praying at a lectern and accompanied by his patron saint.
ORNAMENTATION: Alternate blue and red penwork one-line initials with red or blue pen-flourished infill and extensions; capitals highlighted in red.
