PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, i paper flyleaf + 70 fols. + i paper flyleaf, 245 x 165 (185 x 119) mm, 2 columns, 33 lines, ruled in plummet, quire marks, quire and leaf signatures, catchwords.

BINDING: nineteenth century, brown paper over pasteboards, brown leather on spine and corners

CONTENTS: fols. 1r – 35v William of Saint-Amour, Tractatus de periculis nouissimorum temporum fols. 35v – 46r Incipit prologus in pharetram fidei contra iudeos. In disputacione contra iudeos notate. Incipit pharetra fidei contra iudeos. Tolle arma tua pharetram et arcum fols. 46r – 54r Excerpta de erroribus iudeorum in Talmuth quos transtulit frater Theobaldus supprior ordinis predicatorum ville parisiensis sicut scribunt in sequentibus. Talmuth id est doctrina iudeorum diuiditur in quatuor libros; fols. 54r – 61v Incipit quedam disputacio iudei et christiani. Pascalis de roma hoc opusculum disputacionis iudeorum contra sanctum Anastasium ad honorem venerabilis patriarche Gradensis fideliter ac devote transtulit anno domini . mo. co. l. v.. iiio. Interrogacio iudei. Interrogavit iudeus. Cum deus precepit ligna; fols. 61v – 70v Errores parisius apud quosdam doctores reperti et dampnati inferius continentur. G. permissione diuina Parisiensis ecclesie minister indignus (i.e. Étienne Tempier, Condemnation of 1277 or subsequent recension, not containing all 219 propositions).

ORNAMENTATION: Red and blue initials [6 – 7 ll.] formed of winged dragons, with foliate extensions (fols. 46r, 54v); red and blue parted initials [1 – 4 ll.] with penflourished infill and extensions (fols. 1r, 35v, 52r, 61v); alternate blue and red penwork initials [2 ll.].

History note: Completed and signed Hainrico de Alsacia in 1303 (colophon, fol. 70v); Van Vaernewyck (ex-libris inside upper cover); Georg Franz Burkhard Kloss, Frankfurt (d.1854), who added the title of the second treatise with reference to the printed edition, Cologne, 1493 (cf. Historische Komission 1875 – 1912, XVI, 227 – 28); his sale, Sotheby’s, London, 7 – 29 May 1835, lot 2126; Henry Munster, Mechlin 1847 (ownership inscription on recto of paper flyleaf at front); his sale, 31 Oct. 1893, lot 291; Frank McClean (1837 – 1904); his bequest, 1904.
