Description

Ivory lined in tortoise-shell, with miniature of flowers on and spiralling round a stone plinth, on a marble slab

Ivory and tortoise-shell set with a miniature in bodycolour on card mounted under glass in gilt metal. The circular box has straight sides, which have been scored with four lines and inlaid with green enamel. The pull-off lid lid is flat except for the rim of the mount round the miniature, which is everted. The circular miniature depicts flowers, including roses, auriculas and morning glory on and spiralling round a marble slab.
