Description

Fritware coated in a white glaze painted with lustre

Fritware, mould made, coated in a white glaze painted with lustre
Shape: eight pointed star tile with bevelled edges
Upper surface: seated figure with dotted coat surrounded by scrolling half palmettes and a border reflecting the tile shape, all reserved in lustre. Glaze runs over the edges.
Lower surface: undecorated except for spots of lustre and glaze.

Notes

History note: Acquired as from the Ali Kapi at Isfahan, but in 1951 the donor's son said they came from the Mosque at Tabriz. (old slip)
