Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, transfer-printed in black, and painted in polychrome enamels, and gilt. Oval with curved spout and loop handle, the domed cover pierced by a hold, and surmounted by a conical knob. The a Chinese scene known as 'the Window' or 'the Boy in the Window' pattern. Pattern no. 425

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, with slip-cast body, transfer-printed in black, and painted in pale and darker blue, green, pale apricot, orange, pink, dark puce, and black enamels, and gilt. Oval with curved spout and loop handle, the domed cover pierced by a ventilation hole, and surmounted by a conical knob. The sides of the pot are each decorated with a large reserve containing a Chinese figure scene known as 'the Window' or 'the Boy in the Window' pattern. (Pattern no. 425) and with smaller reserves filled with apricot and red landscape vignettes, green and pink plants, or pink and puce diaper patterns. The shoulder has a continuous border of alternating scroll-edged reserves of the same types. There is a puce and a gold band round the mouth of the pot, a puce leaf and five dots on the top of the spout, and five graduated dots, a fan-shaped flower, a large spot, and a vertical brush-stroke down the back of the handle, and a V at its lower end. The cover has a border to match the shoulder, with four leaves above, and puce lines radiating from the centre of the cover.
