Description

Bone china painted underglaze in blue, overglaze in enamels, and gilded. Pattern no. 1641

Bone china, painted underglaze in blue, overglaze in green, yellow, iron-red, pale and darker puce, and gilded. Circular with sloping sides, which curve inwards above the projecting footring. The interior is decorated with a central blue flowerhead within a gold circle surrounded by four shaped panels, each containing iron red and blue flowers, green leaves and gold tendrils. In each of the spaces between the panels and the border there is a large puce and yellow flower and gold foliage reserved in a dark blue ground. Round the rim there is a continuous gold stem with pairs of leave on each side, with a gold band below and on the rim above. On the ouside there is a continuous band of red and blue stylized trefoil leaves on a gold stem with paired lshoots between each, and round the foot, a gold band.
