Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted in two-tones of purplish-brown and gold with strawberry leaves and berries on an undulating stem. Pattern no. 285.

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, moulded, glazed, painted in two-tones of purplish-brown enamel, and gilded. Of oval ogee form with loop handle, and low domed cover with a an oval knob rising to a point in the middle. The pot has ten holes forming an ellipse surrounding one hole behind the spout, and two holes in the top of the cover, one concealed by the knob on the exterior. The pot is decorated below the shoulder on the widest part with a border of brown strawberries and leaves on a gold stem with smaller gold leaves branching off it. Above and below there is a broad gold band. There are two large and two small arrangements of gold stylized foliage on the shoulder, and a gold band round the rim and round the foot. The spout is decorated on either side with a gold scroll and foliage motif, a vertical line on its underside, and a stylized lieaf and dots on its top, and a band round the tip. There are gold lines down the sides of the handle and a vertical line down its back. The cover is decorated to match, and on its knob has nine swirling gold lines radiating from the point.
