Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted in dark puce and black enamels, and gold with a narrow border of leaves and rose hips. Pattern no. 478

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, painted overglaze in dark puce and black enamels, and gilded. The cylindrical coffee can has circular ring handle, and a slightly recessed base. The saucer is circular with curved sides, and stands on a footring.. The glaze on the base of the inside of the cup and on its exterior base is rather speckled, as are some parts of the interior of the saucer, and its base. The cup is decorated round the top with a wavy gold stem bearing small gold leaves, and dark puce and black rose hips in groups of three, alternately pointing upwards and downwards. There are gold bands round the lower edge and rim, and a vertical line down the back of the handle terminating in an arrowhead. The suacer is decorated in the centre with a small gold sprig with three rose hips, and round the rim edge with a border similar to the cup. A gold band encircles the rim. Pattern no. 478
