Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels with floral sprays and iron-red looped threads . Pattern, no. 195, known as the ‘knitting wool’ pattern.

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, glazed, and painted overglaze in blue, green, red, puce, and purple enamels. Of obconical form with loop handle and circular, stepped, foot. One side of the jug is decorated with a large floral spray, and there are different smaller sprays below the lip and on the other side. Round the exterior of the lip and neck, there is a border comprising four swags formed by a red wavy and looped line, enclosing a half flower, alternating with shallower swags formed by two puce half serrated leaves, and two floral sprays. A narrow red line runs found the edge, and on the inside of the lip and neck there is a broader puce line. On the exterior of the handle there is a puce fan-shaped flower with six dots of graduated size above, a vertical stroke below, and a curved line on the lower end.
