Description

Hybrid porcelain, painted in blue, green, yellow, red and black enamels with floral sprigs and black fronds scattered overall, and blue rim. Pattern no. 24.

Hybrid hard paste porcelain, glazed and painted in blue, green, yellow, red, and black enamels. The cup is a greyish-cream-colour, and the saucer white. The cylindrical cup or can has a slightly recessed base and a circular ring handle. The circular saucer (A) has sloping sides and recessed base. The cup is decorated on the outside with ten vertical rows of a multicolour stylized floral sprig alternating with a fronds, There is a blue band below and another on the rim. The saucer has a multicoloured sprig in the centre and twelve rows of alternating sprigs and fronds. A blue band encircles the rim.

Note

Attribution uncertain. The pattern on this coffee cup and saucer resembles New Hall pattern no. 911 but not exactly. The pattern number 24 could indicate that it was from another factory, as pattern numbers below 50 are rare on New Hall.
