Historiated initial from a set of Choir Books
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 223 x 175 mm, two fragmentary four-line musical staves ruled in red ink and two fragmentary lines ruled in black ink on reverse.
CONTENTS: The initial may have introduced the hymn for the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday, Crux fidelis inter omnes; on reverse, fragments from the Communion of the Mass of the Presanctified on Good Friday, [Ne tradideris me domine in animas persequentium me quia insurrexerunt in me testes i]niqui et [mentita est iniqui]tas sibi. Ps[almus].
DECORATION: Historiated initial in grey-blue or pink with stylized acanthus, on blue ground with delicate white scrolling ornament and white dots: [C, 2 ll.] Crucifixion, with the Virgin and St John.
