Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 117 x 129 mm, two four-line musical staves ruled in red ink, two lines of fragmentary text.

CONTENT: On reverse, part of an antiphon for the third psalm at Lauds for the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin (August 15), In odorem un[guentorum tuorum cu]rrimus adolescent[ulae dilexerunt te nimis]; the initial probably introduced the antiphon for the first psalm of Lauds for the Assumption, Assumpta est Maria.

DECORATION: Historiated initial formed of architectural motifs on a gold ground: [A], Assumption of the Virgin, with the Virgin borne up to Heaven by four angels.

ORNAMENTATION: verso: One ornamental initial [I] in red, height of the gap between musical staves, with voided foliate decoration in purple and yellow; the following letter [N], a display capital in brown with pen-flourishing in the same colour, filled with yellow.
