Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 485 x 350 mm (355 x 250 mm), one musical stave ruled in red ink, 15-17 lines of text, ruled in pale red ink, early ink foliation 125 at lower right hand corner of recto.

CONTENTS: recto Ending of the Friday Matins hymn, Tu trinitas unitas (tuo nos lumine … compar unice), Ps. 80: 1-12, Exultate Deo … (continuing on verso) Si populus, for Matins of Friday; the initial introduces Ps. 80.

DECORATION: Historiated initial in graded pink, green and liquid gold on square grounds, extending to form partial foliate borders with spray-work and fruit and flower motifs: [E, 6 ll.] David playing the dulcimer.

ORNAMENTATION: Alternate red and blue one-line verse initials with purple or red pen flourishing; text immediately following the historiated initials and the verse initials is written in display script, flourished in black filled with yellow wash.
