Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 152 x 131 mm, three musical staves ruled in red ink, three fragmentary lines of text.

CONTENTS: On reverse, two antiphons for the psalms of the first nocturn at Matins for the Feast of St Andrew, [Vidit do]minus pe[trum et andream et voc]avit eos. Ps. [Celi ] Venite post [me] (continued on recto) [redempto]rem. Ps. Eru[ctavit Evovae]; the initial D probably introduced the responsory for the first lesson at Matins for the Feast of St Andrew (30 November), Dum ambularet Dominus iuxta mare Galileae (Rom 10: 4), and would have been on the verso of the original leaf.

DECORATION: Historiated initial in graded pink and orange with scrolling foliate extensions and gold discs on a solid blue ground: [D] Christ calls Peter and Andrew.

ORNAMENTATION: Blue initial with red pen flourishing, height of gap between staves.
