Initial from a Gradual
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 212 x 63 mm, two musical staves ruled in red, two lines of fragmentary text, ruled in plummet.
CONTENTS: On reverse, fragmentary text […]rum …[…]s in … […]e cu[…]; the initial may have introduced the Introit for Monday within the Octave of Easter, Introduxit vos Dominus in terram fluentem.
DECORATION: Historiated initial of painted foliate motifs on a ground of solid gold with quatrefoil roundel at mid-point of stave: [I] Face of Christ.
