PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, ii modern paper flyleaves + ii early paper flyleaves + 194 fols. (fols. 58-194 foliated 1-137 in contemporary red ink) + i added fifteenth-century parchment leaf (fol. 195) + ii modern paper flyleaves, 170 x 125 mm (115 x 85 mm), 25 long lines, ruled in brown ink and plummet, catchwords, quire and leaf signatures.
BINDING: nineteenth century, mottled paper with vellum spine and corner pieces over pasteboards, marbled endpapers.

DECORATION: Half-column framed miniature [8 ll.]: fol. 1r Rule of St Augustine, St Augustine, enthroned, mitred and nimbed, gives a copy of his Rule to representatives of the Order, accompanied by full, historiated floral border with scrolling gold stems and painted lilies, housing gold-framed roundels containing the IHS monogram rayed on red ground (upper bar), St Nicholas of Tolentino with book, lily and crucifix (top right-hand corner), St Monica (outer bar), arms of the order (lower bar), St Augustine (inner bar), Madonna and Child (top left-hand corner).
ORNAMENTATION: Ornamental initial [H, 6-7 ll.] in graded blue, orange, pink and green extending into scrolling floral motifs (lilies) on an indented gold ground, for the beginning of Hugh of St Victor, Expositio (fol. 7r); space left blank for an initial [4 ll.] at the beginning of Constitutiones (fol. 58r); plain red initials [1-2 ll.] for all other text divisions; brown ink guide letters.
