Manchu Official
Sunqua (Attributed)
This image depicts two female figures dressed in Qing military outfits. One lady is seated on a chair and wears an elaborate blue robe with decorative patterns and an orange cape. The other kneeling figure, a servant, is dressed in blue and red garments with a black headdress, presenting a "lingpai”, a tablet of military command, to the lady. The painting is executed in the style typical of Chinese export art from around the late 18th or early 19th century, with careful attention to details in the clothing and furniture. The style combines Chinese painting techniques with elements designed to appeal to Western tastes, particularly in the detailed rendering of the figures' clothing and accessories. Previously described as "Manchu officials".
