Secret helmet, for field use, with later modified lower edge. Of hemispherical form. Its lower edge is crudely cut with a semi-circular notch at each side to clear the tops of the ears. A hole is pierced above each of the notches. That at the left side is occupied by an externally-flush rivet that retains a fragment of an internal leather for the attachment of a missing ear-defence.

The secret is bright with a patchy light to medium patination overall.
