Description

A triangular mast with many strings supports a large open sail, which is depicted closed. The boat has a raised platform at the stern and a two-level canopy at the bow. The closed cabin is suitable for carrying cargo. According to some records, this type of boat only carries Chinese cargo. A similar illustration is housed at V&A (9126:6). Previously described as "chop boat".
