Description

Pair of tassets, for infantry use. Each formed of five upward-overlapping lames of which the fifth is considerably longer than the rest and extends to just above the level of the knees. The convex lower edge of the fifth lame has a bold, file-roped inward turn accompanied by a recessed border. The lateral edges of the tassets are each decorated with a raised border. The inner end of the first lame projects beyond those of the remaining lames. The upper edge of the first lame is furnished with a pair of double-ended, tongued, iron suspension buckles. The lames are connected to one another by round-headed sliding rivets at their outer ends, and by internal leathers at their inner ends and centres. The leathers of the left tasset have severed at some points. Together with the breastplate HEN.M.110-1933

Note

Redundant slots for sliding-rivets in the second and third lames of the left tasset suggest that they and possibly some of the other lames are reworked from old pieces of armour.

The tassets are bright with an artificially induced light to medium patination overall.
