Fig-shaped lobated pommel decorated with crudely cut acanthus leaves - shaped collar. Grip bound with twisted steel wire, welding in its middle. Remains of Turks' heads. Quillons of flat ribbon section, horizontally received and widening at the tips where they are rolled over vertically. Decorated with acanthus to match the pommel. Well-formed ecusson. Single outside ring guard of same section, with diamond shaped leaf-style decoration at midpoint. Plain branches of diamond section; from the outside end of each branch, a flat up-curving counter guard of the same form as the quillon-ends. Back-guard of two bars. Blade of flat oval section, trebly furrowed for its entire length.
Maker's mark on ricasso. The pommel is Italian, 1540-50, whilst the rest of the sword is German c.1570.
