Printmaker:
Sillemans, Experiens

Unknown

Apparently a copy after an engraving published by Henricus Hondius in Paris, same direction, but with an English flag rather than a French one, see David Freedberg, Aviva Burnstock & Alan Phenix, 'Paintings or Prints? Experiens Sillemans and the Origins of the "Grisaille" Sea-Piece: Notes on a Rediscovered Technique', Print Quarterly, 1984, 139-148. This is a later state than the impression at Boston (accesssion no. 67.17), with the addition of a publisher's initials, 'R P'
