Description

Bone china, decorated in Kashmir tyle with pink and green ground colours, polychrome enamels and gilding

Bone china, pressed, painted in royal blue, turquoise blue, pale green, pink, dark rose pink, red and black enamels, and profusely gilt. The plate is circular with alternately long and short shallow arcs round the edge, a sloping rim, shallow curved sides and flat centre, standing on a footring. In the middle of a white area in the centre there is a twelve-pointed star motif with a gold ground overlaid by a central dark pink rose surrounded by twelve black stems with tiny blue and pink flowers. The rest of the well and sides are decorated with a ‘Kashmir’ design comprising a continuous wavy black stems, stylized buds with blue outlines and six green leaves overlaid by intricate gold and black floral motifs, intersperced with small paisley motifs with gold grounds overlaid by blue and pink flowers. The space between the ends of the motifs has a pink ground overlaid by tiny gilt floral motifs, and on the edge there are twelve blue, red and gold half star motifs, and a gold band.
