Linen twill, mounted on a board, embroidered with polychrome crewel (worsted) wools imitating the free style embroidery of the 17th and 18th centuries, often called "Jacobean work".
The panel is divided diagonally by 3 lines of coral stitch. The upper section of stylised exotic flowers and foliage with a perching bird is worked in shaded satin, gobelin, bullion and stem stitches. The lower section of stylised flowers and foliage is worked in stem, satin, encroaching satin, cross, long and short stitches with some tied and speckling stitches.
