Description

Redware with applied white reliefs of the Royal Arms and supporters under lead-glaze

Red earthenware, thrown and turned, with applied handle, and mould-applied sprigs (reliefs) in cream clay under yellowish lead-glaze. The pear-shaped jug stands on a low foot and has a sparrow-beak lip, and an applied loop handle of D section with kick at its lower hand. A hole in its top probably indicates that it originally had a cover. On the front there are sprigs of the Royal Arms and supporters over a stylized plant with a flower at the bottom and on the left, and a leaf on the right.
