Wood carcase lined with red leather, while the outside is covered with tooled leather depicting animals and birds in foliage. The box is bound with iron bands and has an iron hasp and lock.
Inside the case is a label stating "Manchester Art Treasures Exhibition 1857, lent by Rev. G. W. Brackenridge"
