Verge watch in four-coloured gold consular case, enamelled with lovers in a garden.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement with dial inscribed 'E. Pigue...' Balance bridge pierced and engraved with polished steel coquette. Brass balance. Silver regulation dial with scale with 'A' and 'R' at ends, plain brass hand. Plain full plate. Plain turned fusee iron post, polished steel case bolt, with conical end, sliding in plate. Adjustable potance. Counter-potance screwed to back plate with polished steel end plate and adjusting screw. Pillar plate with four plain turned pillars, sunk centre wheel. Third wheel bar, joint not gilt. Fusee and chain with set up click under dial. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.
DIAL: White enamel on copper, two feet. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures, ladder minute circle with 5 minute dots, radial Roman chapters ring. Inscribed 'E. Pigue' in straight line above centre. Winding hole at about 1.30.
HANDS: Gold pierced hour hand, only centre boss of minute hand.
CASE: Four-coloured gold consular. Bezel and body side both with four narrow polychrome enamel panels depicting flowers, separated by gold decoration. Back of body with polychrome enamel plaque, having irregular edge, of lady watering flowers, being offered some flowers by man behind. Panel edge follows outline of figures, plain gold above. Case opening nib with diamond end. Inside of body stamped with imitation charge mark of sous-fermier Eloy Brichard (1756-65) and mark in imitation of Paris Warden mark. 'J' under crown ('J' not used in Paris), maker's mark crown over fleur-de-lis over heart (?) over 'NC' over 'Q'. Scratched on inside of body '5949' and 'AL/WD/-'. The movement does not fit the case, back plate catches as movement swings out.
