Verge watch in enamelled gold case set with pearls.

MOVEMENT: Full plate, not engraved, dial marked 'Gide A Paris'. Balance bridge peirced and engraved, four C's (?) polished steel coquette on raised conical brass block. Silver regulation dial engraved 'Avance' and 'Retard', plain blued steel hand. Plain fusee cock. Plain counter-potance foot above plate. Turned fusee iron post. Polished steel case bolt, truncated conical end, nib under dial. Adjustable potance. Adjustable counter-potance with polished steel end plate, adjusting screw works on edge of plate. Pillar plate with four turned pillars, conical end at base. Recessed centre wheel. Third wheel cock. Contrate cock. Under dial polished steel set-up click. Raised centre. Fusee and chain, set-up click under dial, barrel with one lip. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.

HANDS: Gold beetle and poker.

DIAL: White enamel on copper, counter enamel. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures, ladder minute ring, dots at 5 minutes. Radial Roman chapters, inner ring, centre inscribed 'Gide' under 12 and 'A PARIS' above 6. Winding hole at 2 o'clock. Counter enamel marked '6' and marked in black enamel 'Anspach' over '10-80' (the '10' could be '19' corrected).

CASE: Gold and enamel consular case set with pearls. Bezel set with twenty-nine pearls, body with edge set with twenty-nine pearls. Back engine-turned and covered with blue translucent enamel. Inside stamped with maker's mark, incuse 'O' over 'GM', and crown over 'J', partly filled with enamel, and 'A' (?). Plain gold pendant with side of top stamped with indistinct marks, plain gold stirrup bow.
Town and charge marks for 1787.

CHATELAINE (A): Gold, pearl and narrow ribbon and enamel chatelaine. Top gold buckle with pearls around, clip on back. Double ribbon to gold spreader with three lines of pearls, with five rings at bottom with five rings for drops. Outer drops of two link gold chains, three pearls in each link, to bell shaped gold bodies with chased and translucent enamel sides, nine drops of five pierced pearls. Middle drops of narrow ribbon with gold hook at end. Central drop of gold chain of three figures-of-eight, enamelled links with safety hook for watch at end.
