Verge watch in enamelled gold case with chatelaine enamelled en-suite.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Fs De Roche & fils 942', dial inscribed 'Fs De Roche & fils'. Balance bridge pierced and engraved, polished steel coquette over brass coquette. Brass balance. Plain fusee cock. Plain counter-potance. Silver dial engraved 'Avance' and 'Retard'. Turned fusee iron post, polished steel case bolt, conical end, in slot in plate, nib under dial. Adjustable potance. Counter-potance with polished steel end plate with adjusting screw.
Pillar plate with four turned pillars. Centre and third wheel sinks. Under dial, third and contrate double ended cock. Polished steel set-up click and case bolt spring. Stamped '942'. Fusee and chain, barrel with one lip, set-up click under dial. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.

DIAL: White enamel on copper, edge gilt, three feet, counter enamel inscribed '942'. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures, dotted minute ring between faint circles, radial Roman chapters, faint inner circle. Inscribed under XII and above VI as above. Winding holes at 1-30.

HANDS: Silver set with diamonds. Louis XV style.

CASE: Gold and enamel, consular. Body, counter enamel inside, edge chased. There is a border of black enamel with gold flowers, centre enamelled over engine-turning, and a grey background with small light grey fleur-de-lis at the top and bottom. There are two oval portraits in the centre. The left shows the head and shoulders of Louis XVI against a blue background, while the right shows the head and shoulders of a Marie Antoinette against a red background. Plain gold stepped cylindrical pendant with gold stirrup bow.

CHATELAINE (A): Gold, decorated with enamels and peals, with a key and uncut seal as part of the chatelaine. Plaques in chatelaine, key, and seal enamelled en-suite with watch case, with the head and shoulders of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, and their children, against blue or red backgrounds. Back of plaques enamelled with trophies and flowers.
