Description

Tin-glazed earthenware plate painted in blue with a mill-house in a landscape and a bridge in a landscape

Pale buff earthenware, press-moulded, tin-glazed pale greyish-white, and painted in blue. Circular, with a narrow rim, shallow sides and flat centre, standing on a footrim. (Archer's Shape ) The central area of the plate is decorated with a bridge, a mill house with a tree to the left, a smaller tree and hillocks with tufts of grass to the right, and in the distance to left, a small house and a fence. A flock of six birds is flying overhead to right of centre. There are three peg marks on the back of the rim, and a large 'A' on the base.
